Gas Lane PBSA

A1 fire-rated Aspect benches, loungers and tables + bespoke Plantapanel arrangements on a sunny roof terrace in Bristol

Gas Lane PBSA Rooftop

This project was just the excuse we needed to develop some non-combustible, A1 fire-rated furniture, as it was a strict requirement of the brief. Our client chose our Aspect collection as the starting point and we got to work on replacing those timbers!

After looking at composites, natural stone and chemical coatings we decided to keep things simple and opt for solid aluminium. The bespoke panels feature a unique laser cut wood grain pattern throughout the project. This helps break up the solid, flat surface, improve surface drainage and creates some absolutely incredible shadows when the sun hits them! Aluminium is also a fantastic heat dissipator so even in the UK’s now ubiquitous heatwaves, the furniture doesn’t get too hot.

We also provided a range of large retaining wall planter arrangements from our Plantapanel offering. These work brilliantly not only to allow well segregated and protected areas for planting on the rooftop, but also as delineation of the space, which would otherwise feel far too open and redundant.

As a final touch here we supplied a series of standalone box planters and Aspect platforms for the ground floor and some cost-effective racking for the indoor secure cycle parking area
