St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School sought a large, sheltered seating area with a natural feel. The project was also being completed on a limited budget and so we were asked to help in any way we could.

We offered up only our 2nd ever Kielder timber & steel canopy, with a clear polycarbonate roof. Robust galvanised steel posts with impenetrable composite flitch beams allowed maximum spans with minimal ground level obstructions, but maintained the softer aesthetic of a timber frame.

Underneath the 8×5m roof we set six of our favourite Aspect picnic sets, allowing seating for 36+ students.

To maximise the cost savings for our client we made the decision to install the equipment ourselves, under the watchful eye of a seasoned installer and longstanding friend of CUBE. It was an arduous few days on site and really opened our eyes to the challenges and difficulties of installing products that we design & manufacture; insight that is absolutely critical in informing future product development.
